Prix du jury Univerciné 2021

Le festival Univerciné Britannique 2021 n’a malheureusement pas pu avoir lieu cette année au cinéma Katorza. Mais le jury Univerciné, composé d’étudiants de l’Université de Nantes, a pu décerner le Prix Univerciné Britannique. Quatre films étaient en compétition cette année :

– Calm With Horses (2019) de Nick Rowland
– After Love (2020) d’Aleem Khan
– Supernova (2020) de Harry Macqueen
– Amulet (2020) de Romola Garai

Supernova, réalisé par Harry Macqueen en 2020, est le grand gagnant du Prix Univerciné Britannique 2021 !

Toute l’équipe d’Univerciné britannique remercie les membres et les encadrants du jury de s’être adaptés aux circonstances et de s’être mobilisés pour visionner les films et délibérer.

Merci aussi aux étudiants du master Expertise des Professions et Institutions Culturelles (EPIC) de l’Université de Nantes d’avoir œuvré pendant tout le premier semestre à la sélection des films en compétition.

Discours du Jury 2021

Nous tenons tout d’abord à remercier l’équipe du festival Univerciné Britannique​, qui nous a propulsés hors de notre zone de confort, nous permettant non seulement de nous divertir durant cette période particulière mais aussi d’élire une étoile qui sort du lot. Il convient ainsi de souligner la grande homogénéité des films que nous avons vus et qui sont tout à la fois touchants, profonds et introspectifs dans le traitement de leurs sujets et la représentation de leurs héros.

Nous voudrions tout d’abord décerner une mention spéciale au film Calm With Horses pour ses cadres et paysages hautement symboliques ainsi que pour le développement captivant des personnages. Nous serons ravis de voir les prochains travaux du réalisateur Nick Rowland et de toute l’équipe du film.

Du film que nous avons choisi de récompenser cette année, deux choses s’installeront dans vos cœurs : l’époustouflant paysage humain d’une étoile mourante et le doux épuisement qui suit une symphonie d’émotions. Telle une élégante partition, le script mène deux acteurs magistraux dans une valse fébrile montant peu à peu en rythme et intensité. Leurs personnages sont palpables et profonds, liés l’un à l’autre par le même immense amour qui désynchronise leurs pas. Mais le grand concert céleste prévaudra pour nourrir et révéler ce qui reste quand la mémoire s’évanouit : les sentiments de la plus brillante Supernova.

Nous remettons le prix du festival Univerciné britannique 2020-2021 à Supernova. Félicitations à Harry Macqueen et toute l’équipe du film.

First of all, as the Univerciné Jury we would like to thank the team of the festival, who propelled us beyond our comfort zone, allowing us not only to entertain us during this particular period, but also to elect a star that stands out. It is important to underline the great homogeneity of the movies we have seen, which are all touching, profound and also introspective in the treatment of their subjects and the representation of their heroes.

First, we would like to give an honourable mention to the film Calm with Horses for the frames and sceneries full of symbolism as well as captivating character developments. We look forward to seeing the next works of the director Nick Rowland, the cast and the crew.

From the movie we chose to reward this year, two things will be left lingering in your hearts: the breathtaking human scenery of a dying star and a warm exhaustion after a symphony of emotions. The elegant music score that is the screenplay leads two masterful actors into a febrile waltz slowly gaining in pace and intensity. Their characters are genuine and deep, bound to each other by the same profound love that is bringing their steps out of sync. But the great gig in the sky shall prevail to nourish and reveal what is left when memories fade: the feelings of the brightest Supernova.

We award the 2020-2021 Univerciné British festival prize to the film Supernova. Congratulations to Harry Macqueen, the cast and the crew.
