Dans cette évocation tout en retenue d’un quartier en effervescence, symbole de la toute puissance de l’argent, nous suivons le quotidien d’un trader solitaire constamment sous pression, d’un financier qui franchit le pas en donnant sa démission, d’un balayeur de rue en quête de spiritualité, et d’un immigré pakistanais qui vit d’expédients dans l’espoir d’assurer un avenir à sa fille.

This documentary is a portrait of four Londoners with varying relationships to the City, the financial and business district of London. It insightfully explores the close and complex relations between professional life on the one hand, and personal dreams on the other for each of the men and their relatives. These men are direct witnesses to the economic crisis that has struck us at our core. Without ever being voyeuristic, this portrayal of an area seen as symbolic of the infinite power of money follows the everyday lives of a stressed-out and lonely trader, a banker who decides to throw it all in by handing in his resignation, a street-cleaner in search of spirituality and a Pakistani immigrant who lives by his wits in the hope of providing a future for his daughter.
Marc Isaacs shows once again his talent as a documentary maker.
