Hector McAdam vit dans la rue, en Ecosse, avec deux compagnons d’infortune. Son âge et ses problèmes de santé ne l’empêchent pas de se rendre en stop à Londres comme chaque année, pour fêter Noël dans un centre pour SDF. Aidé par la responsable du centre qui pourrait être sa fille, Hector va tenter de renouer avec son frère et sa sœur, et de faire la paix avec lui-même, lui qui a tout quitté il y a 15 ans.
Hector McAdam lives on the streets in Scotland with two friends. No longer a young man, he gets about with a crutch. Despite his health problems he hitchhikes to London, as he does every year, to celebrate the holiday season. He finds a bed in a homeless shelter run by a young manager who is possibly his daughter. As his long and painful voyage continues, we discover Hector’s heavy secret. This is the story of a likeable, quiet character who, fifteen years ago, turned his back on everything without saying a word to the brother and sister he left behind.
