Dans l’Angleterre du 14e siècle dévastée par la peste noire (Black Death), un jeune moine nommé Osmund est chargé par l’évêché de conduire Ulric (Sean Bean, le Boromir du Seigneur des Anneaux) et ses hommes jusqu’à un village reculé mystérieusement épargné par le terrible fléau. Osmund accepte cette mission dans l’espoir de rejoindre sa bien-aimée, Averill, qui l’attend près de l’endroit en question. Ulric, quant à lui, se lance dans cette aventure afin de comprendre pourquoi la communauté du village échappe à l’épidémie. D’après la rumeur, les habitants jouent avec les forces du Mal et une sorcière a le pouvoir de ressusciter les morts.
Ce film envoûtant, qui mêle amour, violence et fanatisme religieux, vous plongera dans l’époque la plus noire de l’Angleterre médiévale. A voir absolument. In a 14th Century England devastated by the plague (Black Death), a young monk named Osmund is charged with the task of leading Ulric (Sean Bean, Boromir from The Lord of the Rings) and his men to a distant village, mysteriously unaffected by the terrible disease. Osmund accepts this mission in the hope of joining his beloved Averill, who is waiting for him nearby. Meanwhile, Ulric embarks upon this adventure in order to understand how the people of this village are avoiding the epidemic at hand. According to rumour, the inhabitants are playing with the forces of evil and a witch has the power to resurrect the dead.
