Ensemble, ils tentent de comprendre la violence et l’engrenage de la guerre du Vietnam, dont l’absurdité soulève un pesant sentiment d’impuissance. Brook nous entraîne dans une spirale désenchantée ponctuée de chansons, photographies et témoignages poignants de l’époque. In this film adaptation of his play, “US”, Peter Brook immerses us in the world of three young Londoners who are shocked by the sight of a photograph in a magazine which shows a Vietnamese child burned by napalm. Together, they attempt to understand the violence and workings of the Vietnam War, the incongruity of which gives way to an imposing sense of powerlessness. Brook leads us on a spiralling journey of disillusion, interspersed with song, photographs and witness accounts from the period. This original and aesthetic documentary offers a British perspective on this dark period of the 20th Century.
