Inspiré de l’opération du même nom orchestrée par les services secrets britanniques et le gouvernement tchécoslovaque en exil, Anthropoid suit le destin de Jozef Gabčík et Jan Kubiš, agents parachutés en décembre 1941 dans leur pays occupé. Leur mission, mise à exécution en mai 1942 : assassiner Reinhard Heydrich, le « Boucher de Prague », Protecteur du Reich en Bohême-Moravie, grand architecte de la Shoah, qu’Hitler lui-même appelait « l’homme au cœur de fer ».
Based on the operation orchestrated by the British Special Operations Executive and the Czechoslovak government-in-exile, Anthropoid deals with the fate of Jozef and Jan, both air-dropped at the end of 1941 in their occupied country. Their mission is to kill Reinhard Heydrich, “The Butcher of Prague”, grand architect of the Holocaust, whom Hitler called “the man with the iron heart”.
